In 2006, the highest priority will be analysing the data and preparing scientific papers to contribute towards a PhD on this project.
- Analyse data & prepare 5 papers for thesis.
- Survey adults, 120 sites
- Band chicks at 50 sites in South West & Port Phillip regions
Management targets
The major focus for 2006 will be to continue to encourage all land managers to adopt raptor conservation policies and practices.
- Maintenance checks of all nest boxes prior to the breeding season.
- Negotiate adoption of raptor nest protection policies by power transmission companies.
- Provide land holder reports on VPP over the past 15 years.
Community Education targets
The shooting and poisoning of 18% of first year peregrines across the state continues to be a major source of concern. Community education is one of the most effective methods we have of altering attitudes towards birds of prey.
